Lillie M. Johnston age 89 died March 12, 2012 at Essentia Health Hosptial in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the Will Funeral Chapel. Lillie Marlene Johnston was born at home on the family farm near Wagner, SD February 17, 1923, to Rudolph and Anna Zemina. She married Elmer Johnston of Alexandria, SD on January 2, 1945 and the couple made their home in Mitchell. Elmer died in 1970. Lillie worked at Armour Creamery in the egg division in Mitchell, she also worked at the Holiday Inn and Modern Cleaners. She enjoyed fishing in her later life with her boyfriend, Joe. She enjoyed eating bullheads, especially frying them for breakfast. She was the excellent fish cleaner. Lillie was a good hard worker. In Fargo, ND she was the Queen at Manor Care on the float in the parade, she enjoyed crocheting little things and puzzle books and was well liked at the nursing home. Grateful for sharing her life are daughter Marlene and husband Jerry Lundborg of Pierre, SD, son Eugene Johnston of St. Paul, MN, daughter in law Mary Johnston of Fargo, ND; four grandchildren Doug and Micah Wilson of Pierre, Anne Marie (Dusty) Stach of Fargo and Elizabeth Johnston of Fargo; two great grandchildren Danessa and Kacee Wilson of Pierre and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer in 1970; son LeRoy in 2004; brothers Frank, Bill and Joe, three brothers in infancy; sister Martha and a nephew Johnny Porter.
