Lillian M. Fuchs, age 88, of Mitchell, died Wednesday August 29, 2007 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Andes, SD at 1:30 PM. Lillian was born January 18, 1919 on the farm place in Charles Mix Co. near Lake Andes, SD to Frank and Mary (Turek) Pesicka. She attended rural country school to the eighth grade. She married George J. Fuchs on October 8, 1940, at Lake Andes. She and George farmed until 1955 when they moved into Mitchell. They had also lived at Tyndall and Mitchell previously. Lillian was proud to be a stay at home mom and enjoyed gardening and her flowers and boasted of learning from her mother at the age of seven how to sew. She was a quilter at the Mitchell Senior Citizens Center, she picked up the rock collecting hobby from her son Ron and with George spent many weekends collecting in the Badlands and the Black Hills. She was a member of the Corn Palace Rock Club, past member and board member of the Mitchell Senior Citizens Center, RSVP volunteer at the Indian Village, a member of ZCBJ Western Fraternal Life Association and member of the First Presbyterian Church. Lillian was very proud of her Czech heritage and a family historian genealogy keeper. Grateful for having shared her life were her son Ron of Mitchell; sisters in law Margaret and Marcella Fuchs, brother in law Rudy Pavel; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers Frank Jr., Louie and Emil; husband George Fuchs and infant son Gerald.
