Leonard W. Driggs, age 71, of Mitchell, died December 13, 2006 at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with full military rites. Leonard was born on December 3, 1935 in Mitchell to Warren and Hazel (Poling) Driggs. He attended school in Mitchell and served in the US Air Force from 1954-1958 during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he returned to Mitchell. Leonard married Carol Washburn on November 14, 1959 in Luverne, MN, and they made their home in Mitchell. He was employed as a power lineman with East River Electric for seven years. He moved to Illinois and worked for Mechanics Universal in quality control for twelve years. He was employed at New Holland Implement where he assembled and delivered farm machinery. He retired due to injuries received from work. Leonard enjoyed working on the family farm, trips to the Black Hills, camping and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of the American Legion. He is survived by a son, Douglas Driggs and wife, Janet, of Mitchell and a daughter, Linda Nelson and husband, Rick, of Marion, SD; six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister in infancy.
