Leona B. Hamm, age 89 of OFallon, MO (formerly of Mitchell, SD) died February 15, 2007 at the Garden View Care Center in OFallon, MO. Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Friday, April 27, 2007 at Graceland Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Leona B. Hamm, daughter of A. Earl and Mabel Way, was born February 2, 1918 in Plankinton, SD. Leona moved with her family from a farm near Wessington Springs, SD when she was a young girl. Leona went to school in Mitchell and graduated from high school there. She then went to Dakota Wesleyan University for two years. Leona was united in marriage with Dale Hamm on May 4, 1937 in Canton, SD. She moved to Missouri in 1999 and had been a resident of Garden View Care Center for the last seven years. She was a life member of First United Methodist Church in Mitchell and was very active in the church. Grateful for having shared her daughter, Norma Carrigan and her husband, Harry, OFallon, MO; three grandchildren, JoDee Black and her husband, Jerry, Cindy Nelson and her husband, Keith, Randy Carrigan and his wife, Kim; three great grandchildren, A.J. Carrigan, Grace Carrigan, McKenzie Nelson; one sister, Thelma Boslaugh; three brothers, Sheldon Way and his wife, Corinne, Marvin Way and his wife, JoAnn, Austin Way and his wife, Betty; sisters-in-laws, Hazel Strand and her husband, Carol, Connie Hamm Duncanson. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchildren, her parents and one brother.
