Leon R. Scheetz age 66 of Parkston, SD died Thursday, August 15, 2019 at this home under hospice care. A Celebration of Life will be from 1:00 Pm to 5:00 PM Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Boogs Bar in Parkston, SD.

Leon R. Scheetz, son of Ed and Regina (Wieczorek) Scheetz, was born March 17, 1953 in Parkston, SD. He attended school in Parkston, graduating from Parkston High School in 1971. After his schooling, Leon worked with a carnival for a short time before returning to Parkston. While in Parkston he was employed at AMPI cheese factory.

Leon was united in marriage with Jody (JoDell) Ward, on September 1, 1973 in Parkston, SD. The couple honeymooned for a month before moving to North Carolina. While in North Carolina, Leon was employed at a furniture factory. The couple returned to Parkston and Leon was employed with South Dakota Concrete for five years, Midcontinental Restoration for 8 years, and Cretex East for 30 years which later changed its name to Fortera. Leon retired in June of 2019.

He enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and was a very social person. He loved reading especially mysteries.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Jody Scheetz, Parkston, SD; two sons, Corey Scheetz and Jesse Scheetz, both of Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Everett (Eva) Scheetz, Coon Rapids, MN; a sister, Doreen Clark, Stickney, SD; two brothers-in-law, Jay Ward and Kelly Ward, both of Mitchell, SD and two sisters-in-law, Darla (Tim) Johnson and Dawn Hanson, both of Mitchell, SD.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Torri Jean and his parents.
