Leda M. Schutz, age 80, of Mitchell died Wednesday, August 08, 2012 at her home after a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, August 11, 2012 at First Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8PM at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. Leda was born on September 28, 1931 in Bismarck, ND to Walter and Emma (Magstadt) Carley. She attended school and graduated from Harvey High School in Harvey, ND. She was united in marriage to Harvey Schutz on June 16, 1951 in Ozark, Alabama. They lived in Harvey, ND and Aberdeen, SD before moving to Mitchell, SD in 1959. Leda was a homemaker until all her children were in school. In 1966 she began working at Mcleod's Office Supply where she worked for 18 years before retiring. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Leda was very proud of all her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and traveling; one of her favorite trips was to Hawaii where she experienced a culture different from her own and delighted in whale watching. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband Harvey, Mitchell; her daughter Laurie (Rick) Robey, Mitchell; six grandchildren: Tara (Andy) Hanisch, Lennox, SD; Chaz, Chelsea and Cole Johnson, Mitchell; Logan Schutz, Phoenix, AZ; Danielle Rutar, Pender, NE; One great grandchild, Joslynn Hanisch, Lennox, SD and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons: Allen and Kevin; one daughter, Karen Rutar; one grandson, Anthony Hennings; one brother and one sister.
