Lawrence Maeschen, age 88, of Mitchell, died April 4, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Salem. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Lawrence was born September 1, 1918, near Ethan, SD to Carl and Rose (Hantke) Maeschen. He graduated high school. On February 7, 1943, he married Dorothy Griffin from rural Hamlin County near Hazel, SD. They resided in Mitchell and raised four children before divorcing in 1977. He enjoyed attending auctions, loved toys, and was a kid at heart. He is survived by his sons: Stanley, of Cathedral City, CA, Wesley, of Orange, CA, David of Tustin, CA, and daughter, Judy and husband, Phil Belanger, of Winsted, MN; six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Ina of Sioux Falls, SD. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Milbert and Wallace, and one daughter, Doris.
