Lawrence Jendersee, age 89, of Mt. Vernon, died April 28 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 3, at Salem Lutheran Church, Mt. Vernon. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Wednesday at Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Blooming Valley Lutheran Cemetery, rural Corsica. Lawrence was born October 3, 1917, in Aurora County to Carl and Ida (Krause) Jendersee. He attended Washington Township school in Douglas County. He farmed two years before he married Evelyn Moke on December 20, 1950 at St. Johns Lutheran Church. They farmed 17 years in the Corsica and Delmont area. In 1967, they retired and moved to Mt. Vernon where he was employed with the Mt. Vernon School System. In 1974, he became employed at the Mitchell Retirement Home where he worked for 16 years. He then worked at Firesteel Nursing Home for 1 year. He worked part time at Wermers Feed Store for over 9 years. He is survived by his two children, Gary, of Mt. Vernon and Darla Coffey, of Mitchell; three grandchildren: Dixie Maddox, Jason and wife, Bobbi Jo, all of Sioux Falls, April of Mitchell, seven great grandchildren, and two sisters: Pearl Neugebauer, Parkston and Rosie Plamp, White Lake. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Jimmy Ray, his parents, three brothers, Bill, Ray and Elmer and one grandson, Jeremy James; his in-laws, Albert and Elsie Moke, three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
