LaVonne Amelia Aslesen, age 89 of Sioux Falls, SD (formerly of Mitchell, SD died Monday, July 3, 2023 at Sanford USD Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

LaVonne Amelia Aslesen, daughter of Orlo and Edna (Lamster) Halstead, was born October 4, 1933 in Brooking, SD. She grew up in White, SD and attended country school.

LaVonne was united in marriage with Doyle Aslesen on June 11, 1950 in Montevideo, MN. The couple lived on a farm near Florence, SD and later to Clark, SD. In 1964 they moved to Mitchell, SD. While in Mitchell, LaVonne was employed as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph Hospital. She then attended Nettleton Beauty School in Sioux Falls and graduated in 1986. LaVonne worked as a hairdresser in Sioux Falls, SD.

She enjoyed baking and cooking. LaVonne loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

She was a former member of First Lutheran Church. Much of her life evolved around the church. She taught Sunday school for three decades, served as church Treasurer, was an active member of the church circle, involved in the women's choir and taught Vacation Bible School and Adult Bible Studies. LaVonne has a passion for Evangelism and even attended College for Theology.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Doug (Barbara) Aslesen, Sioux Falls, SD, Terry (Cheryle) Aslesen, Mitchell, SD, Rhonda (Dave) Putzke, Sioux Falls, SD, Tami (Todd) McKillop; nine grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Aslesen; her parents; a grandson, Adam Aslesen; her siblings, Genevieve, Wanita, June, Garnet and Orville.
