LaVina Flanagan, age 85 of Elk Point, formerly of Mitchell, died Tuesday, August 7, 2007 at the Prairie Estates Care Center in Elk Point. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 13 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will start one hour prior to the funeral at 1:00PM Lavina was born on November 5, 1921 to Clarence and Edna Pearl (Bennett) in rural Alexandria. She attended Pleasant No. 3 Country School and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1939. She married Lee Nordseth and worked in Mitchell at Mondern Cleaners for over 10 years. She was also employed at a couple grocery stores in Mitchell for 7 years. She later married Omar Stoltz. In 1967 she moved to Monroe, WA after the death of Omar. She returned to South Dakota where she later married Bernie Flanagan. LaVina loved working in her flower garden and spending time quilting. She most loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her sons; Gary Nordseth (Jan) of Fairbault, MN and Monnie Stoltz (JoAnn) of Dakota City, NE, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also by two brothers Harold of Vallejo, CA and Clarence of Sioux Falls, SD Also four sisters; Bernita Tammen, Emery, SD; Lillian Blankenship, Alexandria, SD; Fern Degen, Mitchell, SD; and Fauna Kappenman, Mitchell, SD She was preceded in death by 3 spouses, her parents, five sisters, and two brothers.
