LaVera Harris age 90, of Sioux Falls, SD formerly of Mitchell died Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Good Samaritan Lutheran Manor in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel until time of service. Burial will be in American Legion Cemetery. LaVera M. Harris daughter of Paul and Emily (Martin) Kelm was born on November 24, 1924 in Nobles County, MN. LaVera graduated high school at Beaver Creek, MN. She traveled to Los Angeles, CA where her future husband Donald was inducted into the Army and they were married September 24th 1942. After being discharged from the Army they moved back to Minnesota for a number of years. In 1952 they packed up their four children and moved to Mt. Vernon, SD to begin farming. In 1962 they moved to Mitchell where LaVera worked for Montgomery Wards as a book-keeper. In 2007 Donald and LaVera moved to Sioux Falls where she lived the remainder of her life. LaVera loved gardening, cooking and she loved her pets. Grateful for sharing her life are her husband Donald of Sioux Falls, SD; children, sons Ron (Jerilyn) Harris of Sioux Falls, SD and Jerry (Penny) Harris of Minneapolis, MN; daughter Darlene (Bruce) Shenemann of Chapin, SC; daughter-in-law Mary Harris of Mitchell, SD; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; son Robert; great-grandson Kailer Pederson; brothers Ernest and Paul; sisters Mildred, Mabel, Ella, Ruth and Helen.
