LaVella M. "Lou" Bebo, age 98, of Mitchell, SD passed away on March 9, 2016 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 11, 2016 at Will Funeral Chapel with a 2:00 PM burial at Saint Thomas More Cemetery in Brookings, SD. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the Will Funeral Chapel.

LaVella Bebo, daughter of Edward and Ellen (Durisch) Johnston, was born November 20, 1917 in Milltown, SD. Her family moved to Alexandria, SD when LaVella was a small child. She attended Alexandria Public School and graduated in 1936. LaVella then attended college at South Dakota State University.

She was united in marriage with Monroe "Monnie" Bebo on January 1, 1941 in Rock Rapids, IA. The couple made their home in Brookings and at Lake Poinsett. Monnie passed away in 1986.

LaVella was employed in a real estate office in Brookings, SD for 24 years. She was also manager of a finance company and then worked at 3-M before retiring in 1980. LaVella moved to Mitchell, SD in 1999 and entered Firesteel Healthcare Center in 2012.

She belonged to various bridge clubs over the years and enjoyed crocheting and walking.

Survivors include a daughter Karen (Jim) Jacques, Surprise, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Carol Bebo, Mitchell, SD; three grandchildren, Amy (David) Graves and their children, Ashley and Austin Graves, all of Mt. Vernon, SD, Wendy (Jay) Linke and their children, Haley, Jacey, Macey and Delaney Linke, all of Mitchell, SD, Mike (Stephanie) Friedbauer and their children, Zachary and Gregory, all of Glendale, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Monnie; a son, Terry; twin sister, LaVaughn Johnston; two sisters, Elsie Shabino and Marie Robinson; and two brothers, Laurence and Elmer Johnston.
