Laurie Lou Friedel was born at home on a farm southeast of Ethan to Joseph Jr. and Mary (Bruske) Friedel. She lived around Ethan and Dimock area all of her life and graduated for Ethan High School in 1954. After high school she worked for a time at Modern Cleaners in Mitchell. On February 16, 1955 she married John James (Jim) Tobin at Ethan where they farmed for the rest of their lives where they had two sons, John and Dan. Laurie like going on short road trips with her sisters. She loved to cook for the family on holidays and special occasions, watching birds and growing flowers. Grateful for sharing her life are her two sons Daniel Lee of Alexandria and his special friend Audrey Schrag of Bridgewater, John James Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Alexandria; one granddaughter Nikki (Tony) Bartscher; four great grandsons, Ty, Colter, Justin and Brody which she all adored of Alexandria; two sisters Lorraine Johnson of Spring Grove, MN and Lucille Norwick of Sioux Falls and many nieces and nephews. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Leonard (Bud) and Laurice Friedel.
