Larry L. Krutsch, age 63 of Mitchell, died November 14, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls after short battle with cancer. Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Larry Lee Krutsch was born August 6, 1944 in Mitchell to Lorraine and Thelma Fern (Thoming) Krutsch. Larry attended elementary school in Stickney and graduated from Mitchell High School. After graduation he entered the US Army and served a two year tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon returning home he worked a period of time for the US Postal Service and married Sharon Meier on December 5, 1969 in Mitchell. Larry then began working for Northwestern Public Service as a power lineman and owned and operated a tree trimming business in Mitchell. On September 11, 1996 he married Velma Krietlow Stevenson at the Chapel of the Hills in Rapid City. He was a member of American Legion, DAV and past commander of the VFW. Larry loved the outdoors, his fishing, camping, hunting and especially his grandchildren. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife, Velma of Mitchell, sons, Bryon (Jill) Krutsch of Sioux Falls, Brett (Collette) Krutsch of Iowa, daughters Gretchen (Mitch) Elfstrand of Sioux Falls and Debbie (Gary) Vaughn of Mitchell; one sister Nancy Hempel of Braham, MN; three sisters-in-law, Darlene Krutsch of Braham, MN, Betty Stevenson and Carolyn Stevenson of Mitchell; Six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great- grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, brother John Krutsch, brothers-in-law Stan Hempel, Melvin and Lyle Stevenson.
