Larry Dierks, age 65 of Mitchell, SD died Thursday September 27, 2007 at Avera McKennan Hospital. Graveside services will be 11:30 AM Monday October 1, 2007 at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Armour, SD. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Larry Dierks, son of Lyle and Frances (Kroeger) Dierks, was born August 27, 1942 in Geddes, SD. He grew up on farm in rural Armour, SD and attended country school. He entered the US Army in 1963 and served in Viet Nam during the Viet Nam War. After his honorable discharge he returned to South Dakota. Larry was united in marriage with Peggy Buchholz on September 27, 1969. Larry was employed as a heavy equipment operator for 42 years. He was a member of the VFW and a former member of the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared his life are his two children, Trevor (Julie) Dierks, Mitchell, SD, Terra (Chad) Eldeen, Mitchell, SD; four grandchildren, Josie and Dawson Dierks, Mitchell, SD, Spencer and Isabella Eldeen; four brothers, Bub (Jan) Dierks, Armour, SD, Duane (Polly) Dierks, Sioux Falls, SD, Denny (Lila) Dierks, Greeley, CO, Jacque (Patty) Dierks, Mitchell, SD; two sisters, Max (Don) Todd, San Leandro, CA, Betty Knodel, Armour, SD; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna; a brother, Dick Dierks; a brother-in-law, Rueben Knodel; and two nieces, Pam Todd and Tammy Knodel.
