Lana Jean Tegels

Lana Jean (Sinkie) Tegels, age 58, of Mitchell, SD died under hospice care on October 12, 2026 at her home surrounded by her family. Services are pending under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.

Lana Jean (Sinkie) Tegels entered into this world on Christmas Day (December 25, 1967) in Huron, SD to Henry “Joe” and Gail (Truman) Sinkie. She grew up on the farm and attended Gann Valley Elementary thru the sixth grade before transferring to Wessington Springs for seventh and eighth grade. Lana graduated from Wessington Springs High School in May of 1986. She then attended Lake Area Vocational School for Cosmetology. A passion Lana held until her retirement on August 5, 2026 after 40 years.

Lana met the love of her life, Todd Tegels and they were united in marriage on June 7, 2024. They spent their fun time riding their Harley Davidson, attending the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally and son many other adventures.

She was a member of the Pink Ladies Dart League, being inducted into the Pink Ladies Hall of Fame in 2025.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Todd Tegels, Mitchell, SD; two sons, Mark (Ashley) Sinkie, Mitchell, SD, Matthew Marvig, Detroit Lakes, MN; six grandchildren, Shaylee Hansen, Haidlee Hansen-Sinkie, Cameron Toman-Sinkie, Grayson, Aiden and Addison Sinkie; her parents, Gail C. Truman, Red Wing, MN and Henry “Joe” (Sheila) Sinkie, Hill City, SD; two brothers, Matthew (Dulcy) Sinkie, Gann Valley, SD and Gerrad Doering, Woonsocket, SD; her nieces and their families; and the many friends she has found in her life.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Byron and Juanita Sinkie, Rose Cable, Loretta James; her great grandparents, George and Della Sinke; and an aunt, Connie Timmerman.
