K ris Marie Gerstenecker was born November 17, 1973, in Webster, SD, to William and Shirleen (Thompson) Gerstenecker. The family then moved to Mitchell where Kris grew up and attended school and graduated from Mitchell High School. She attended National American University and obtained her Associate Degree in Business. Kris worked in the manufacturing industry, she worked with Hendrickson Trailer, Twin City Fan, Trail King and AKG. Kris worked until her health prevented her from continuing to do so.

Grateful for sharing her life are her mother, Shirleen of Mitchell; four sisters, Lisa Norris of Mitchell, Cheri (Ralph) Lewis of Culver, OR, Pam  Johnson of California and Michelle Weisser of St. Louis Park, MN; one brother Robert of Sioux Falls; uncle and aunt Dick (Sandy) Gerstenecker of Mitchell; uncle and aunt Warren (Ellen) Storm of Huron, SD and grandfather, Emil Thompson of Huron, SD;  numerous nieces and nephews.

Kris was preceded in death by her father, William, grandparents Robert and Hazel Gerstenecker, grandmother Shirley Thompson, and nephew Phelix Gerstenecker.

In lieu of flowers all memorials will be used toward Kris's medical expenses.
