Kolleen Moran, 66, of Mitchell passed away at her home surrounded by her family and pets on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.  Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday January 15, 2022 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday January 14, 2022 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be in Scared Heart Cemetery in Parkston. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Mitchell Animal Rescue, PO Box 355, Mitchell, SD 57301.

Kolleen Rose Moran was born February 12th, 1955 to Patrick G. Moran and Rose V. (Andachter) Moran.

She grew up in Parkston SD and graduated from Parkston High School in 1973. From 1975-1993 she was blessed with six children.

Kolleen worked in the jewelry department at Kmart in Mitchell and later as store manager. Afterwards, she worked for Firesteel healthcare and then DWU in the custodial arts while also doing part time at Menards.

To know Kolleen was to love her; a social dynamo with her glaring positivity and infectious smile she could always light up a room and make new friends wherever she may be. What was most important to her was family, always being involved with her children and grandchildren's lives. Animal welfare was her passion in life. Kolleen was involved with animal rescuing, fostering animals and finding their forever homes.

She is survived by her six children; Chad Klunder and wife Hannah, Jackson NE, Jeremy Klunder and Jeanna, Mitchell SD, Nicki Peterson and husband Micheal of Mitchell, Tara Weber and husband Scott of Mitchell, Josh Leach and wife Elysa, Oakland CA, Becca Leach and Tyler Sioux Falls SD. Five furry children; Mo, Buddy (the kielbasa) Sausage, Gizzy, Michael, and Stella, 13 grand children with one to arrive in April, and five siblings; Paulette, Patty, Margo, Jackie, and Tim.

Kolleen was preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Rose Moran, nephew, Gregory Smith, and brothers in-law, Ronald Smith and Douglas Zweifel.
