Kerry Francis Morgan, age 63, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital from advanced bone cancer. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 22, 2014 at First United Methodist Church with entombment at Graceland Cemetery Columbarium. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Kerry Morgan, son of Kenneth and Carol (Johannes) Morgan, was born December 15, 1950 in Lexington, KY. He grew up in Lexington, graduated from Tate's Creek High School, and went on to get a Bachelors of Business Administration from Eastern Kentucky University. After his schooling, Kerry started his own construction and real estate company. He moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1980 and was employed by the Greyhound/Dial Corporation and later the Armour Food Division. Kerry moved to St. Louis with the Armour Food Division and later moved to Mitchell, SD. In Mitchell, he was employed as Vice President at Thermoset Plastics. Kerry later became part owner of Quality Wood Designs with Mike and Vic Honermann in Mitchell. He retired in 2012. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mitchell where he served as head usher. Kerry enjoyed participating in all types of sports, especially softball, bowling and basketball. In his younger days he was an accomplished gymnast known for his ability to do the iron cross. In his later years he was known for walking up and down stairs on his hands. Kerry was an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball and the Dallas Cowboys. He had a passion for US coin collecting, especially Morgan dollars. Kerry made people laugh like no other and lived life to its fullest. Grateful for having shared his life are his three children; Lee (Heidi) Morgan, Broomfield, CO, Monica (Mike) Brown, Alexandria, SD, Meredith (Bryan) Cacchiotti, Phoenix, AZ, all from his 30 year marriage to Cherry Pendleton (divorced); his beloved companion, Laurie Ell, Mitchell, SD; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Chad, Alecia, Zach, Ashley, Thomas, Nick and Tyson; one great grandchild on the way; three brothers, Kevin (Gail) Morgan, Mesa, AZ, Kenneth Morgan, Lexington, KY, Kelly Morgan, Lexington, KY; one sister, Candy (Mike) Catlett, Phoenix, AZ; and finally Lucky, his beloved cat. When Kerry passed away he was surrounded by his family and his lifelong friend of 50 years, Billy Joe North, along with Jimmy Van Driel his best friend from Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents.
