Kenneth "Kenny" Wendelboe, age 73, of Chamberlain, SD (formerly of Mitchell, SD) died Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Sanford Medical Center in Chamberlain, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, December 31, 2016 at New Home Lutheran Church in Mitchell with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.
Kenny Wendelboe, son of Marion and Beulah (Kvame) Wendelboe, was born November 15, 1943 in Mitchell, SD. He attended Prosper Center Country School, Mitchell Senior High School and New Home Lutheran Church.
Kenny was united in marriage with Jeanne Thurman in November of 1961. The couple made their home in Lincoln, NE where Kenny was employed for the railroad. To this union two daughters were born. The couple later divorced and Kenny returned to Mitchell.
While in Mitchell, he owned and operated Wendelboe Trucking with his father and brothers. He continued in the family business until his health no longer permitted.
He was united in marriage with Ramona Otterpohl in October of 1968. The couple made their home in Mitchell. To this union three children were born. They later divorced and Kenny was united in marriage with Debbie Riggen from 2001 to 2016. Kenny moved to the Sanford Mid-Dakota Care Center in Chamberlain where he lived for the last eight years of his life.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Grateful for having shared his life are four children, Bethany (Tim Sandvig) Wendelboe, Florissant, CO, Kayleen (John) Mazour, Albion, NE, Tammy (Josh) Renken, Mitchell, SD, Brian Wendelboe, Mitchell, SD; nine grandchildren, Shannon Holdren, Jessilyn Larson, Rachel Tisthammer, Colton Mazour, Tanner Mazour, Wyatt Mazour, Gage Renken, Reed Renken and Brody Nelson; two great grandchildren; his lifelong friend, Diana Cain, Mitchell, SD; a sister, Shirley Magstadt, Mitchell, SD; several nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Keith and Milt; a sister, Carol Amussen; and a son in infancy, David Kenneth Wendelboe.
