Kenny Byrd, age 77, of Mitchell, SD passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Friday, February 1, 2019 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Kenny Byrd, son of Charles and Pearl (Keller) Byrd, was born August 9, 1941 in Emery, SD. He attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1959. Kenny was employed at Ross Lab, Owatonna Manufacturing and the City of Mitchell as a truck driver. He retired from the City of Mitchell after twenty years of service.

Kenny was united in marriage with Joyce Synhorst on January 28, 1961 in Mitchell, SD.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and enjoyed camping and fishing. Kenny most enjoyed spending time with his family.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife of 58 years, Joyce Byrd, Mitchell, SD;  four children, Geoffrey (Teresa) Byrd, Mitchell, SD, Kim (Mike) Strehlow, Mitchell, SD; Dawn Grissom, Mitchell, SD, Peggy Christiansen, Chester, SD; nine grandchildren, Jenny, Travis, Lyndsie, Cody, Casey, Brianna, Makayla, Haley and Cole; seven great grandchildren; Kaden, Porter, Kaleb, Alivia, Addysen, Emersyn and Londyn; a brother, Denny (Joan) Byrd, Mitchell, SD; two sisters, Gayle (Bob) Norwick, Mitchell, SD and Betty (Don) Sterner, Minneapolis, MN; numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dwight and Duane; one sister, Mert; infant brother, Ronald; three brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, three nephews, and his father and mother-in-law.
