Katherine Barbara Titze, age 100, of Mitchell, died Friday, March 9, 2007, at Exempla Lutheran Home in Arvada, Colorado. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, March 17, at the First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Servicemens Memorial Cemetery. Katherine was born in Boone, Iowa on May 8, 1906 to Peter and Anna (Reider) Weber. Her family moved to a farm six miles south of Mitchell in 1909. She attended Prospect School and went on to graduate from Mitchell High School in 1924. She married George Schaub and the couple made their home in Mitchell. She worked on the family farm and helped milk cows. She married Herman Titze on January 18, 1947 in Alexandria and the couple made their home in Mitchell, SD. Several years later, she moved to Wesley Acres where she lived for several years. She then moved to Avera Brady Nursing home and then to Colorado Lutheran Home in Arvada, CO. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and First Lutheran Church Women, the American Legion Auxiliary, and Elks Club. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Volz of Arvada, Colorado and Sharon Flesher of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Titze, in 1987; her parents, four brothers: Mike Weber, Dave Weber, Harry Weber, and Fred Weber; one sister, Margaret Gaetze; two infant sisters, and one grandson, Jeffrey Kujanson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Lutheran Church in Mitchell.
