Katherine M. Hauser age 64 of Mitchell, died Wednesday July 2, 2008 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell after a 4 year battle with brain cancer. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday July 7, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church with private burial at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Will Funeral Chapel with prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Kathy Piller, daughter of Ted and Opal (Clarkson) Piller, was born September 24, 1943 in Stetsonville, WI. She grew up on a farm near Stetsonville, WI. Kathy attended Deer Creek Grade School and later graduated from Medford High School in 1961. After her schooling she made her home and was employed in Minneapolis, MN. Kathy was united in marriage with Justin Hauser on June 11, 1966 in Medford, WI. The couple made their home in Medford, WI. In June of 1972 they moved to Mitchell where they raised their children. After their children were raised, Kathy was employed by the Mitchell School System for 20 years as an educational assistant. She retired in 2003 due to health reasons. Kathy was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Lakeview Ladies Golf Association, the Womens Bowling League. She enjoyed golfing, bowling, growing flowers, being outdoors, and watching birds from her porch. Her greatest pleasures were spending time with her family and grandchildren. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Justin Hauser, Mitchell, SD; three daughters, Justine Tobin and her fianc Jeff Wieneke, Brandon, SD, Jennifer (Tim) Wethor, Brandon, SD, Jessica (Jim) Nolz, Brandon, SD; six grandchildren; three brothers, Dave (Leona) Piller, Stetsonville, WI, Don Piller, Rib Lake, WI, Jeff (Sharon) Piller, Granton, WI; four sisters, Jane Laffan, Medford, WI, Lana (Jack) Raiche, Mound, MN, Connie (Jack) Behrendt, Maple Plain, MN, Sandy(Dale) Jochimsen, Medford, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Margaret.
