Karen G. George, age 75 of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, September 14, 2019 at her home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 11:30 AM. Burial will be 3:30 PM Thursday, September 19, 2019 at the Fairview Cemetery in White, SD. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel.

Karen G. George, daughter of John and Mrytle (Ruehel) Fish, was born April 30, 1944 in Brookings County, SD. She attended school in White, SD graduating from White High School.  After her schooling she moved to Brookings, SD. Karen married Keith Nordtvedt and they were later separated.

Karen then returned to White and was later united in marriage with Arnold George on November 24, 1972 in Selby, SD. Because of Arnold's road construction jobs the family lived in various communities in South Dakota. In 1974, they moved to Solen, ND where Karen was a homemaker. In 1978, they moved to Bismarck, ND and Karen was employed as a receptionist at Dr. Van Varken office for several years. Later she was employed at the State Capitol in Bismarck. Karen then worked on a river boat on the Missouri River. The couple moved to Rapid City where Karen and Arnold managed an apartment complex. While in Rapid City, Karen enjoyed driving through Spearfish Canyon. They later moved back to Bismarck, ND and then in 2004 to Mitchell, SD.

She enjoyed baking, cooking, fishing, camping, traveling, gardening and raising plants. Karen truly loved time spent with her grandchildren.

She was a member of First Reformed Church in Mitchell, SD.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons, Todd Nordtvedt, Littleton, CO, Brian (Shelly) Nordtvedt, Harrisburg, SD; four grandchildren, Melissa (Erik) Matlock, Kaityin (Isaac Chytka), Matthew (Rachel Christianson) Nordtvedt, Marc (Maddy Mossefin) Tuttle; three great grandchildren, Aidyn, Isabella and Lillyanna.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold George; her parents; a sister, Neta Anderson; and her brother, Ken Fish.
