Judy Ann. Stunes, age 73, of Letcher, passed away Friday October 21, 2005 peacefully in the arms of angels at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday October 27, 2005 at the Resurrection Lutheran Church with a Christian burial at Butler Cemetery, in rural Letcher, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday October 26, 2005 at Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Judy Ann Brown was born on March 29, 1932 to Ray and Ludie Mae (Suiter) Brown in Greenville, SC on March 29, 1932. She was raised and received her schooling along with her brother, Charles and sister, Bille in Greenville. Judy was united in marriage with Jimmy Landreth on March 31, 1950. They made their home in Greenville where Judy was a homemaker and raised their five children. In 1965, Judy moved to California and then to South Dakota in 1973. She made her home in Parkston and was employed at the Parkston Nursing Home. Judy married Ed Stunes on July 2, 1982 in Mitchell, SD. They settled in rural Letcher, SD. Judy was employed at Firesteel Healthcare Center and later at County Fair Food Store. She retired in 2001 and enjoyed gardening, sewing, dancing and rummage sales. Judy was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD. Blessed for having shared her life are her husband, Ed Stunes, Letcher, SD; five children, Pat Kurtenbach and her husband, Dale, Brandon, SD, Jimmy Ray Landreth, Sioux Falls, SD, Carol Puetz and her husband, Dennis, Sioux Falls, SD (formerly of Parkston, SD), Sylvia Long, Sioux Falls, SD, Phillip Landreth and his wife, Robbin, Tea, SD; five step children, Roger Stunes and his wife, Leana, Letcher, SD, Wayne Stunes and his wife, Peggy, Mitchell, SD, Melvin Stunes, Mitchell, SD, Del Ray Stunes and his wife, Sue, Danvers, MN, Tony Stunes and his wife, Shawn, Letcher, SD; 24 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Brown and his wife, Brenda, South Carolina, a sister, Billie Ray Gaines, Greenville, SC. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Fred; and a step son, Jim.
