Obituary

Judy Louise Hunter, age 69, of Forestburg, SD died Monday, June 12, 2017 at Avera Queen of Peace ER. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, June 19, 2017 at Forestburg Lutheran Church, Forestburg, SD with burial at Silver Creek Cemetery, Rural Forestburg, SD. Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Judy Hunter, daughter of Ernest and Gladys (Fouberg) Nurnberg, was born November 12, 1947 in Mitchell, SD. She grew up on the family farm near Forestburg. Judy attended school in Forestburg graduating from Forestburg High School in 1966. After her schooling, Judy was employed sewing parachutes at Ravens in Huron, SD.

Judy was united in marriage with Dwight Hunter on May 5, 1968 at Forestburg Lutheran Church in Forestburg, SD. The couple lived in Forestburg and Judy continued working at Raven for a short time. She then was a homemaker and raised their children. When the children got older, she began working at Van Dykes in Woonsocket, SD. From 1975 to 1986    the couple lived in Brookings, SD area. While in Brookings, Judy ran the family upholstery shop. In 1986 the couple returned to Forestburg and Judy continued her work at Van Dykes. The family moved to Marshall, MN for a year, where she was employed at a music store. After a year they returned to Forestburg. Judy later was employed at Walmart in Mitchell for 11 years. She retired at the age of 65.

Judy was a member of Forestburg Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and sewing.

Grateful for a having shared her life are her husband, Dwight Hunter, Forestburg, SD; her four children, Dan (Robin) Hunter, Forestburg, SD, Steve (Laura) Hunter, Marion, SD, Teresa (Tom) Moudry, San Diego, CA, Jeremy (Kristin) Hunter, Toronto, SD; 12 grandchildren; four great grandchildren plus one due in August; a brother, Dennis Nurnberg, Forestburg, SD.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Doug Nurnberg.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Judy's name. Memorials may be mailed to 210 East Green Drive, Mitchell, SD.
