Judith Anne Yates of Mitchell, SD went home to be with Jesus on Friday, August 29, 2014 at Avera McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD. She passed away with great dignity and grace surrounded by her family. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Graceland Cemetery, Mitchell, SD. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 PM. Judith was born May 4, 1959 in Mitchell, SD to Roger and Beverly (Carlson) Yates. She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1977 and from Mitchell Vocational Institute with an Accounting 1 degree in 1978. She worked the switchboard at the department of transportation. She also worked in child care, food service, and product demonstrations. Judith loved her Lord Jesus, helping others, sharing God's love, caring for her maternal grandparents, spending time with family and friends, especially her mother; playing board games and taking care of family pets. Judith especially loved the color purple because it represented the Majesty of her Lord and King Jesus. She always saw good in everyone she met. Her million dollar smile radiated love to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Grateful for having shared her life are her mother; two sisters, Holly (Don) Thorpe of Mt. Vernon; Dawn (John) Carlson of Owatonna, MN; her uncle Gary Carlson; nieces Sarah and Nicole Carlson, Audra (Chris) Roettele, and nephew Brandon (Amanda) Thorpe. She is also survived by several aunts and several grand nieces and nephews and cousins and many special friends. She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, two uncles, one aunt and several cousins.
