Joseph Henrich, 78, of Mitchell, South Dakota passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Avera Queen of Peace in Mitchell. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment with full military honors to follow at Servicemen’s Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell.
Joseph was born on April 15, 1948, in Dawson, Minnesota, to Urban and Blanche (Wick) Henrich. He graduated from Mitchell High School in 1966 and had been accepted to Northern State College in Aberdeen. However, just four months before classes were to begin, he was drafted into the United States Navy to serve during the Vietnam War. He faithfully served his country and received an Honorable Discharge in 1971.
Following his military service, Joseph attended Lake Area Vo-Tech, where he earned a degree in the Dental Lab Program. He devoted the next 46 years of his career to fabricating dental prosthetics and working alongside dentists, with most of his career spent at Bauer Dental.
Joe found his greatest joy outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and golfing, especially when sharing those experiences with his son and grandchildren. He also had a passion for vintage muscle cars and spent many happy hours tinkering in his shop. He cherished his morning coffee gatherings with friends and enjoyed ending the day visiting over a few adult beverages.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Nicholas (Jada) Henrich of De Smet; grandsons, Ganon and Gradyn; sister, Betty Beiswanger of Mankato, MN; brother-in-law, Monte Stoltz of Dakota City, NE; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Urban and Blanche; brother, Stan Henrich; sisters, Judy (Curt) Genter, Margaret Henrich, and Bonnie Stoltz; and brother-in-law, Jack Beiswanger.
