Jon B. Christensen, age 44 of Mitchell, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at a Sanford Emergency facility in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 25 at the First Lutheran Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Friday at First Lutheran Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Will Funeral Chapel.

Jon was born on March 26, 1966 in Cedar Rapids, IA to Robert and Barbara (Bernstorf) Christensen. He grew up as a young child and attended school in Manchester, IA. At age 12 he moved to Mitchell. In middle school and high school his activities were football, basketball, and part of the 1984 State A basketball championship team. He graduated in 1984 and attended Northern State University. He later graduated in 1989 and returned to Mitchell where he met his future wife Janean Cain. Jon and Janean were married on September 21, 1991 in Mitchell.

Jon was employed at UPS as a pre-loader and also office manager at Hansen Wagon Wheel and Shop. His hobbies included: drag racing, cars, hunting, and especially his childrens sporting activities.

He is survived by his wife Janean of Mitchell, two children; Taylor and Cole; his parents Robert and Barbara of Lake Okeechobee, FL, two sisters, Ann Lindeman and husband Tracy of Ethan, SD and Sue Christensen of Denver, CO. and father and mother-in-law Tom and Judy Cain of Sioux Falls, SD

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established at Cor-Trust bank in Jons memory.
