Obituary

Johnny Paul, age 82, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Aurora Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the Will Funeral Chapel. Johnny Paul, son of Sam and Barbara (Doll) Paul, was born in Raleigh, ND. He grew up on the family farm and attended country school. Johnny entered the US Army on May 15, 1953 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on April 26, 1955 and returned to North Dakota and was employed doing construction. Johnny continued in the US Army Reserves until 1961. In the early 1960's he moved to Mitchell, SD and was united in marriage with Margaret Shank on October 5, 1962 in Mitchell. While in Mitchell he was employed at Puetz Construction. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the American Legion, 40 et 8, the VFW and the Moose Lodge. Johnny enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. Survivors include his step daughter, Louise (Shank) Metz, Mitchell, SD; a step granddaughter, Rachelle (Rob) Degen, Gillette, WY; two step great grandchildren, Larissa Degen, Marshalltown, IA and Rory Degen, Gillette, WY; four sisters, Eva, Sister Madelena, Margaret and Mary. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; his parents; three sisters, six brothers and his step son-in-law.
