Johnnie Lee Niles, 76, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at the Veteran's Hospital in Sioux Fall, SD.  A visitation will be at 1:00 PM with a time of sharing beginning at 2:00 PM, followed by Military Rites on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Will Funeral Chapel.

Johnnie was born October 24, 1945 to Andrew Levi (Bun) Niles and Dolerous (Dolly) Scott Niles.  He was raised on a farm near White Lake, SD.  He attended Cooper grade school and graduated from White Lake High School in 1963.

Johnnie entered the Navy in 1964 through 1968; serving two tours in Vietnam.  He met Pamela Sundall while working at Hilton Lumber Company in Presho, SD.  Johnnie worked at the Mitchell Post Office until he entered Springfield College; graduating with degrees in math, physics and electronics.  Johnnie married Pamela on August 22, 1970.

The couple purchased a home in Plankinton in 1977 and Johnnie began farming/ranching soon after. Johnnie had a love for animals, especially dogs and horses.  He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and served as a county commissioner for 12 years.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Pam of Plankinton, SD, brothers; Chuck (Jo), Owatonna, MN, Randy, White Lake, SD, Richard (Patty) Burke, SD, sister in-law; Joan Niles, Sioux Falls, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers; Earl (Skip) and Mylan (D.D).

Johnnie will be missed by his many friends and family; Pam's family and many nieces and nephews.
