John W. Robertson, 86, of Mitchell, SD, died August 3, 2013 at Firesteel Health Care Center in Mitchell, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, August, 7, 2013 at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Kathy Hartgraves officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Tuesday, August, 6, 2013 at Will Funeral Chapel with a Masonic service at 7:00 PM. Burial with military honors will be at Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell, SDJohn Wallace Robertson was born May 28, 1927 to John Malcomb and Frances (Ottosen) Robertson in Alexandria, SD. He enlisted in the Navy in June of 1944 and made a career of it. In 1950 he met and married Maude Marie Clark. They had 4 children and traveled abroad wherever he was stationed. In 1965 he retired from the Navy and returned to Mitchell where he worked at Lyle's Mobil. He then worked at Dakota Manufacturing until he became a welding instructor at Mitchell Vo-Tech until health issues forced him to retire. Grateful for sharing his life are his four children, Delores (James) Thomas of Mitchell, SD, Susan Schumm of Alexandria, SD, John F. (Linda) Robertson of Alexandria, SD and Barbara (Greg) Mendenhall of Mitchell, SD; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, two brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law.
