John Arthur Kayser age 27, of Alexandria, SD died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital as a result of a farm accident. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Thursday, January 25, 2018 at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic  Church in Alexandria, SD. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 PM Wednesday at the church with a prayer service and rosary beginning at 7 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary of Mercy Cemetery.

John Arthur Kayser was born on April 18, 1990 in Mitchell, SD to David and Sandra (Tuschen) Kayser. John was the fourth of seven children having three brothers and three sisters. He was a 2008 graduate of Hanson High School in Alexandria, SD. During John's school years he participated in basketball and band. John was also active in his community and church. He was an alter server and an usher for St. Mary's Catholic Church. John continued his education at Mitchell Technical Institute earning an Associates of Applied Science Degree in agricultural technology.

John worked for J & D Masonry and Nick Kayser Construction during the summer months learning the tools of the trade. After graduating from MTI in 2010, John joined J & C Construction working with Jim and Chris Ruden until his passing. While John enjoyed the labors of the construction life, his true love and passion was working on the farm with his dad and brothers. From the time John was little he was following his dad around on the farm and helping wherever possible. Prior to his death he was extremely active in the family farm including ownership in the cattle herd. He could be found working in the field or with livestock. He and his brothers were continually updating and improving the farm and facilities. John loved working with his brothers on projects in the shop. John was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it when they needed it.

John loved and appreciated the family he was given and the opportunity to spend time with his parents, siblings and especially his nieces and nephews. He dedicated his life and time to family and friends.

John is survived by his parents David and Sandra Kayser of Alexandria; brother Vince (Ashley) Kayser their children Paige, Isabel, Skylar, Gavin, Alexandria, sister Angela (Shane) Teel and son Logan, Mitchell, sister Emily (Chris) Ruden their children Carter, Madalynn, Allie and Jace, Emery, two brothers Alex and Matthew and sister Sarah Kayser all of Alexandria; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Carole & Bernard Kayser and Eileen & Elner Tuschen, one infant Uncle Vincent Kayser, Aunts Janet Jarding and Carol Tuschen, and two cousins Michael Jarding and Holly Rotert.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
