Obituary

John A. Hart, age 62 of Ethan, died Sunday, May 30, 2010 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday June 2 at the Will Funeral Chapel with prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM and Masonic Rites to follow at 7:30 PM. Graveside services will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 4, 2010 at the Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria, SD.

John A. Hart, son of William and Bertha (Darling) Hart, was born September 16, 1947 in Parkston, SD. He was raised and attended school in Parkston, SD. John graduate from Parkston High School in 1965. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy and served on the USS Shield and the USS Savage from 1965 to 1968 in Vietnam.

John was united in marriage with Marilyn Hartman on March 8, 1969 in Mitchell, SD. He attended Mitchell Vocational Technical School where he went into electronics and graduated in 1970.

He worked for several different telephone companies starting with Sanborn Cooperative, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal, Contel and GTE. John worked for the Davison County Highway Department from 1995 to 1997. He later was employed by the US Postal Service as a rural carrier until he retired due to his health.

He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell, SD, the Masonic Lodge 79 in Woonsocket, SD, American Legion Post 261, Lions Club, Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, El Riad Shriners and Yelduz Shrine Club, Tappannock, VA, a lifetime member of the NRA. John enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren

Grateful for having shared his life are wife, Marilyn Hart, Ethan, SD; two children, Christopher (Teresa) Hart, Mitchell, SD, Kandice (Robert) Frederick, Lubbock, TX; five grandchildren, Kendrick, Keone, Kelsi, Kyrel and Kaden; two sisters, Darlene Brown, Colorado Springs, CO, Lynda (Les) Harrison, New Castle, WY; a brother, Bob Hart, Moline, IL; his mother-in-law, Arlene Hartman, Mitchell, SD; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Bill, Pat, Dan and Duane; and his father-in-law, Oscar Hartman.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Shriner Childrens Hospital.
