Johanna E. Kramer, age 95, of Mitchell, SD, died Sunday August 7, 2011 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday August 11, 2011 at Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday August 10, 2011 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Johanna E. Guischer, daughter of Peter J. and Rose (Bailey) Guischer, was born January 24, 1916 in Hanson County, SD. She grew up and attended school in Alexandria, SD. Johanna graduated from high school in West Point, NE. After her schooling she was employed at Kresges and then later did house cleaning. Johanna was united in marriage with Kirby Kramer on October 16, 1946 in Mitchell, SD. The couple farmed near Epiphany, SD for 30 years and in 1978 the couple retired to Mitchell. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a former member of Holy Family Church and Holy Three Kings Catholic Church in Epiphany. In her younger years Johanna was active in the altar society. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crafts and raising flowers. Grateful for having shared her life are her two daughters, Linda (Joe) Turmes, Boise, ID, Marcella (Mark John) Kunkel, Fulton, SD; four grandchildren, Michele Malcom, Joseph Turmes, Dustin Kunkel, and Eric Kunkel; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kirby Kramer on July 27, 1997; her parents; a granddaughter, Marsha; a great grandson, Houston; a brother, Eldon Guischer; and a sister, Evelyn Tibbets.
