Joan Rogers-Swanson, age 80, of Mitchell, died Sunday, January 23, Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will 2:00 PM Thursday, January 27 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Dudley Cemetery in Stickney. Visitation will begin one hour prior at 1:00 PM at Will Funeral Chapel.

Joan Carrol Rogers-Swanson was born on October 14, 1930 in Stickney, SD to Frank and Elsie (Setzer) Rick. She attended and graduated from Stickney High School. She then attended The Minnesota School of Business in Sioux Falls. Joan married George Rogers on March 18, 1951 in Stickney. The couple farmed north of Stickney in Dudley and Pleasant Lake townships for 40 years. She was also very active in the United Methodist Church in Stickney. George passed away on June 6, 1998. Joan later married Robert Swanson on September 21, 1999. The couple made their home in Mitchell until her death.

She is survived by her husband Robert of Mitchell; 2 children: Allen and wife Donna Rogers of Stickney and Karen Sligar of Mitchell. 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. Also by Bobs 2 children; Judith (Dan) Huter of Council, ID and Randalin (Mike) Huter of Boise, ID.

She was preceded in death by her husband George, a sister Marlene Landon, and Bobs son, Robert Swanson Jr.
