Jimmy Cheeseman Jr., age 68, of Mitchell, SD (formerly of Alexandria, SD) died Tuesday November 4, 2008 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday at Zion Lutheran Church with burial at Graceland Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.
Jimmy Cheeseman Jr., son of Jim Cheeseman Sr. and Ruby (Smith) Cheeseman, was born October 29, 1940 in Alexandria, SD. He graduated from Fulton High School. He entered in the US Army in 1961 and was honorably discharged in 1967.
Jimmy was united in marriage with Karen Heinert on March 26, 1966 in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home Alexandria, SD where Jimmy farmed for 20 years. In 1989 he began his employment at Puetz Construction.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the American Legion. Jimmy served on the School Board for Hanson School District from 1979 to 1993, Hanson County Pork Council, Hanson County Rural Water Board, the Fairview Township Board, and served as a 4-H Leader.
Grateful for having shared his life are his three children, Clinton Cheeseman and his wife, Stacey, Sioux Falls, SD, Neal Cheeseman and his wife, Nichole, Chamberlain, SD, Tim Cheeseman and his fiancé, Alissa Satrang, Fulton, SD; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Tristan, Makenha, Taylor, Grace, Amelia, Josh and Lexy; four brothers, Gerritt Cheeseman and his wife, Sharon, Nacogdoches, TX, Donnie Cheeseman and his wife, Judy, Fulton, SD, Rick Cheeseman and his wife, Marcia, Alexandria, SD, Lynn Cheeseman and his wife, Starr, Brandon, SD; a sister, Trudy Baird and her husband, Don, Sioux Falls, SD; a special friend, Judy Studelska, Mitchell, SD.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Karen Cheeseman on March 22, 1998 and his parents.
