Jerry Lee Stange, 77, of Plankinton died July 13, 2018, at Salem Care and Rehab Center. Jerry was born on August 1, 1940, in Mitchell to Milo and Elizabeth (Thiery) Stange. He attended country school in Aurora County his elementary years and graduated from Plankinton High School in 1958.
Jerry farmed and worked with his father and brother and several farmers in the area. He also worked for the SD Department of Transportation and drove truck for Kinyon Construction and JD Concrete. Jerry was a skilled card player who enjoyed going downtown for coffee and a game of pitch or pinochle. He was a great cook too. Jerry was a wealth of knowledge of family history easily recalling significant dates and places. It was a thrill to be rewarded with one of his belly laughs.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin.
Grateful for having shared in his life are his children, Michele (Art) Holden of Sioux Falls and Curt (Nicole) Stange of Mitchell; five grandchildren Megan and Joshua Holden and Kaitlin, Marissa, and Jordan Stange; sister and brother-in-law Bonnie and Rodney Kinyon of Plankinton, nephew Jason Kinyon of Longmont, CO, and niece Jackie Kinyon of St. Peter, MN; several cousins and friends.
Per his final wishes, no services will be held.
