Jeanne (Jean) Anderson, age 59, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, October 9, 2014 at her residence under hospice care. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday, October 13, 2014 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Jean Anderson, daughter of David and Mary (Canfield) Bucholz, was born July 20, 1955 in Wagner, SD. She attended all 13 years of school in Wagner, graduating in May of 1973. Jean went on to attend USD for one year. Jean was united in marriage with Jimmy Anderson on June 2, 1974 in Huron, SD. The couple lived briefly in Glendale, CO. They moved to Huron, SD where they raised their two sons. During that time, she worked as a legal secretary and seamstress in a furrier shop before finding her nitch in public service with the Huron, SD Department of Labor. She was there for 17 years. In 1997 she was promoted to manager and they moved to Mitchell, SD. During that time, she served as a board member for the Mitchell Area Human Resources Association, and sat on various area workforce advisory committees. She retired after 29 years of service to the State in August of 2011. Not being one to sit still very long, she returned to work part time at County Fair Foods in Mitchell, but left after being diagnosed with cancer. She was the family historian, spending innumerable hours researching and archiving family history. Jean also did considerable work documenting and officially recording her hometown and area cemeteries for genealogy purposes. She did volunteer data entry for the US GenWeb site on a regular basis. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Jim, Mitchell, SD; two sons, Jason Anderson, Minnetonka, MN, Cameron (Terra) Anderson, Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, CJ and Amelia Anderson, Sioux Falls, SD; her mother, Mary Bucholz, Wagner, SD; two sisters, Brenda (Paul) Jennings, Bancroft, SD, Tammy (Jim) Thornton, Wagner, SD. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Jack (Norma) Anderson, Mt. Vernon, SD, Niel (Wanda) Anderson, Delmont, SD, Winkie (Judy) Anderson, Phoenix, AZ; her sisters-in-law, Lois Burt, Dallas, TX, Eileen Ayres, Kalispell, MT, Anita Engel, Sioux Falls, SD, Jeanne Gavette, Sioux Falls, SD, Joyce (Dick) Richardson, Sioux Falls, SD; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and her sister Ruth.
