Janice K. Koch, age 73, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at her home under hospice care. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel.

Janice Kay Koch, daughter of Floyd and Nellie (Almos) Stewart, was born June 4, 1945 in Estelline, SD. She lived there until the age of 10 when she moved with her family to Hetland, SD. Janice graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1963.

Janice was united in marriage with Larry Koch on December 10, 1963 in Pipestone, MN. The couple farmed near Hetland, SD. They later moved to Minnesota and later returned to Lake Preston, SD. In 1972 they made their home in Spencer, IA where Janice worked for State Farm Insurance.

In 1979 the couple made their home in Mitchell, SD. While in Mitchell Janice was employed at Methodist Hospital until they closed and then retired from Avera Queen of Peace Hospital in 2009.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Steve (Maureen) Koch, Mitchell, SD, Shawn (Jim) Miles, Mitchell, SD; four grandchildren, Cody (Kelsi) Miles, Dillon (Jill) Miles, Shannen Koch, Rorey Koch; two great grandchildren, Berkli and Morli Miles; two brothers, Sheldon (Betty) Stewart, Brookings, SD, Kenny (Jan) Stewart, Cedar, MN; three sisters, Joan (George) Kjellsen, Sisseton, SD, Peggy Cory, Covina, CA, Shari Serfoss, Hastings, MN; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry; a son, Shane Koch; a brother, John Stewart; a sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Blaine Tolzin; a nephew, Trent Stewart; her parents and her in-laws.
