Janice Felton, 92, passed away Monday, December 16, 2024 at Avera Brady Assisted Living in Mitchell. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mitchell, SD. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Janice was born on February 27, 1932 on a farm near Madison, SD to Alvin and Ruth (Seiders) Budde. She graduated from school in Madison in 1949. Janice moved to Mitchell to work. She met her husband, Donald Felton, while attending Trinity Lutheran Church; they married in 1950. The couple's dream trip to Germany came true in September 1993. Janice learned some basic German words; their tour guide was Agnes Payk, who became her pen pal for 45 years. Agnes visited Mitchel to see Janice almost every year and was a very special and devoted friend.

Janice worked several jobs, mostly in retail sales. She was active in church and at the senior center. She enjoyed fishing and hunting with Donald, league bowling, playing cards and was a baseball fan. One of her most joyful memories was when her name was drawn to go on a shopping spree, grabbing all the groceries she could hand carry to the checkout in five minutes. She mostly grabbed meat and ended up with a total of 517.00 dollars. She was very thrilled and excited.

Janice is survived by her sisters; Elaine Richter, Dakota Dunes, SD, Jean (Everett) Blobaum, Strawberry Pt. IA, Jane (Vernon) Sandene, Maple Grove, MN, Burdene (Doug) Johnson, Madison, SD, a brother; Ronald Budde, Yankton, SD, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in May of 2002.
