Jane A. 'Janie' O'Neal, age 54, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday October 26, 2008 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. No funeral services are scheduled at this time. Arrangments are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, SD.

Janie DeWees, daughter of Chester and Barbara (Carlson) DeWees, was born September 21, 1954 in Guernsey, WY. Janie moved with her family to Nevada, where she attended school in the Reno, NV area. She worked in several casinos in Reno and then worked as a security officer.

Janie met her future husband Steve O'Neal in 1977 and they were united in marriage on July 20, 1986 in Reno, NV. The couple made their home in Gillette, WY later moving back to Reno, NV. Janie moved to Mitchell, SD in August of 2003.

She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and taking care of animals.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Steve O'Neal, Mitchell, SD; a son, Jason (Sarah) Erschabek, Richmond, TX; two grandchildren, Kayley and Tristan; her mother, Barbara Bernardini, Reno, NV; two brothers, Steve (Kelly) DeWees, Henderson, NV, David (Stacey) DeWees, Colfax, CA; a sister, Karen Bernardini, St. Louis, MO. And numerous nieces and nephews.

Janie was preceded in death by her father.
