Obituary

James Francis Tyler, 63, of Mitchell, SD died Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 2, 2013 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. James Francis Tyler, son of John and Virginia (Wermers) Tyler, was born January 20, 1950 in Mitchell, SD. He attended country school and graduated from Ethan High School in 1968. James then attended and later graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1973. He farmed his entire life on the family farm south of Mitchell. He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend to many. In his years on Earth, he always had time to help someone in need and time to share some cookies or other goodies if they were offered. He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church and served as the treasurer of Prosper Township for many years. Thankful for having shared in Jame's life are his sister, Jean Nelson of Mitchell; special aunt, Ellen Koehmstedt of Mitchell; two nephews, John (Amy) Tyler and their children of Wagner, SD; Jason Tyler and his daughter of Mitchell; a niece, Stephanie Tyler and her son of Ethan; his other family members; many neighbors and friends. James was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; his parents; a big brother, John; and a brother-in-law, Leif Nelson.
