James "Jim" Tischler age 80, of Mitchell, died Monday, July 29, 2013 in Rapid City, SD. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Friday, Aug. 2, 2013 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Serviceman's Memorial Cemetery with military rites. James "Jim" Bernard Tischler was born in Parkston to Michael and Juliana (Boehmer) Tischler on July 23, 1933. After his schooling Jim joined the U.S. Air Force and served 20 years, retiring with an honorable discharge in 1973. Jim enjoyed music and was a life time musician in various bands. He donated his time and music to area nursing home residents. Jim married Irene Wipf on July 26, 2013. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Irene of Mitchell; daughter Vickie L. (Mickey) Mix of Volga, SD, son Michael J. (Christina) Tischler of Rapid City, SD and four granddaughters; brother Donald (Marge) Tischler of Mitchell, SD, sisters Pat (Fred) Kobold of Mitchell, SD and Janet (Carl) Metz of Mitchell, SD.
