Obituary

James (Jim) W. Nolt, 66 of Madison died June 3 at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls. Services for Jim will be 10:30 AM Tues. June 8 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Mitchell with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. A visitation will be Monday 6-8pm with prayer service at 7:30 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Madison. Jim was born December 16, 1937 to Kathleen (McHugh) and Walter Nolt in Mitchell, SD. He attended school at Notre Dame and Mitchell High School. On June 7, 1956 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea for 3 years. Jim was honorably discharged on June 5, 1959. He attended Dakota Wesleyan and graduated in 1963 with a degree in business accounting. He married Mary Unzicker in Mitchell on April 27, 1963, and worked at First National Bank of Minneapolis from 1963 to 1969. At this time he began his career in automobile sales. In 1979 he purchased an automobile dealership in Lewistown, MT. He lived in Montana until 1989 when he and his family returned to SD where he was employed at Prostrollo All American Auto Mall until the time of his death. Jim was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He was an honest, hardworking man who lived his life with integrity. He had a tremendous impact on those he associated with. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and loved to spend time hunting and fishing, but mostly he loved spending time with his family whom he loved very much. Survivors include his wife Mary, 4 children Christopher Nolt, Sarah (Jim) Cawley, Mary Margret and fianc Benjamin Bennett all of Bozeman, MT, David Nolt of Missoula, MT; a brother Gary Nolt of Brookings SD. 3 sisters Mary (Wally) Anderson, Dayton WA. Caroline (Ray) Goldammer, Mitchell and Julianne Graff of Mitchell; 4 grandchildren; Meghan and Michael Nolt, Grace and JonasCawley. He is preceded in death by a daughter Jennifer Nolt. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Jims name.
