James Jim Cameron, age 83, of Mitchell, died August 29, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday, Sept. 5 at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery with Masonic and Military rites. James Martyn Cameron was born in Pierpont, SD to John E (Jack) and Dora (Martyn) Cameron on September 17, 1922. He graduated Pierpont High School, attended Huron College, and served in the US Army. In 1945, he married Norma Boeker in Aberdeen, SD. Jim was in the grocery business, Camerons Super Valu, in Faulkton and Gettysburg, SD for a total of 41 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Yelduz Shrine, Gettysburg Mini-Corvettes, American Legion, Gettysburg Chamber of Commerce, and Fire Department. He had been chosen Boss of the Year, Citizen of the Year, and honored for Outstanding Community Service. He was always active in the Democratic Party. He enjoyed horse racing for many years. He is survived by his wife, Norma, of Mitchell; five children: Maureen (Perry) Struse, Des Moines, IA; Dr. James (Sue) Cameron Jr., Phoenix, AZ; Gregory (Marcia) Cameron, Richmond, VA; Marcia Cameron, Des Moines, IA; Todd (Peggy) Cameron, Colleyville, TX; a sister-in-law, Ilse Cameron, Groton, SD. Also eleven grandchildren: Steven Struse, Ankeny, IA; Jennifer Mullert, Westerville, OH; Jonathon Cameron, Phoenix, AZ; Amanda Struse, Atlanta, GA; Joshua Cameron, Arlington, VA; Lucas Cameron, Arlington, VA; Caitlin Cameron, Phoenix, AZ; JayCee Cameron, Dallas, TX; Matthew Cameron, Tucson, AZ; Kelcee Cameron, Lubbock, TX; Cameron Cook, Des Moines, IA, seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, three nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Earl Cameron and Jerald Cameron; and a son-in-law, George Cook.
