Jackie Nygaard, 61, of Mitchell, died August 26, 2004 at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Monday at the funeral chapel. Jackie was born on May 28, 1943, at Watertown to Maynard and Rosetta (Keller) Abley. She moved with her family to Marietta, Minnesota and attended school there and later in Watertown. She married Duane Nygaard on August 12, 1966, at Watertown. The couple lived in Watertown for a short time and in 1968 moved to Sioux Falls. They moved to Mitchell in 1970. Jackie provided daycare for thirty years and touched the lives of numerous children. She retired in 2001. She enjoyed sporting events; especially DWU basketball games. She is survived by her husband, Duane, of Mitchell; two daughters: Lynn Bauske and husband, Lance, Valley Springs, SD and Kris Nygaard, Mitchell; two grandchildren, Logan and Luke Bauske; two brothers, Don Abley and wife, Mary Ann, Las Vegas, Nevada and Bob Abley, Newbery, Ohio; two sisters, Muriel Schnieder and husband, Leroy, Worland, Wyoming, Vicki Abley, Watertown, SD, and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Merle Abley.
