Irma Larimer, age 88 of Sioux Falls, formerly of Letcher died Wednesday September 17, 2008 Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday September 22, at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday at Will Funeral Chapel.
Irma was born on July 18, 1920 to John and Myrtle (Beam) McIntyre in Sanborn County. She grew up in the Letcher area where she attended country school and graduated from Letcher High School in 1938. On September 12, 1939 Irma married Alvin Larimer in Mitchell. They lived and raised their family on a farm close to Letcher until Alvins death in 1978. After selling the farm she moved to Woonsocket area where she lived with a daughter in the summer months and wintered in Georgia with a son. When her health began to fail she spent the remaining years of her life with a daughter in Sioux Falls. She loved spending time with her family, taking care of horses when in Georgia and working in the yards wherever she was.
She is survived by 5 children, 2 sons: Al (Sally) Larimer, Sioux Falls, SD; Dan (Connie) Larimer, Cartersville, GA. Daughters: Dianne (Daryl) Riddle, Sioux Falls, SD; Charlene (Bill) McManus, Chester, SD and Barb (Keith) Senska, Woonsocket, SD. Twenty-two grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren. 3 sisters Helen Mernaugh, Creston, IA, Francis Parr, Helena MT. and Rosemary Marsh, Reliance, SD.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 sons, an infant daughter, 3 sisters, 3 brothers, a grandson, a great grandson and a daughter-in-law.
