Iris Oster, 79, of Mitchell, died Saturday, October 11, 2008 at Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be 10 AM Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, with burial at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell, with a prayer service beginning at 6:30 PM.Iris Lavon Oster, daughter of John A. and Mattie (Budrow) Goldammer, was born in Mitchell, SD on April 11, 1929 and raised on the Goldammer Dairy Farm. She grew up in Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame High School.Iris was united in marriage with Bernie Oster on April 22, 1950 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home in Mitchell. Iris worked at Nepstads Flowers and Gifts, Dethlefs Flowers. Iris and her husband owned and operated American Global and was the first secretary for Davison County Rural Water. Iris was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, the Alfa Delta of ESA Sorority, the Mitchell Moose Lodge, the Mitchell Elks and the Red Hats Unique. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, making dolls and loved to sew. Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Douglas Oster, Mitchell, SD, Sandra and husband Bob Young, Mitchell, SD; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond and wife Caroline Goldammer, Mitchell, SD; a sister, Virginia and husband John Dearing, Minnetonka, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie in 2004; her parents; two brothers, Francis 'Bud' Goldammer and William 'Bill' Goldammer.
