Irene (Bailey) Wirebaugh, age 86, of Mitchell died Friday February 22, 2008 at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at the American Legion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Irene Bailey, daughter of John and Mollie (Nelson) Bailey, was born on September 23, 1921 in Carthage, SD. She received her schooling in Miner County and graduated from Carthage High School. Irene was united in marriage with Willie S. Wirebaugh in Mitchell, SD in 1939. She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and the Holy Spirit Altar Society. Irene was also a member of the Coacher-Goetsch Unit 0018 American Legion Auxiliary in Mitchell, SD. Grateful for having shared her life are her four sons, Larry (Sharon) Wirebaugh, Aberdeen, SD, James (Judy) Wirebaugh, Lakeland, MN, Steven (Cathy) Wirebaugh, Elk River, MN, Bryan (Robin) Wirebaugh, Princeton, MN; 15 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a brother, Richard (Kay) Bailey, Mitchell, SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie; three daughters, Sandra Wirebaugh, Jeannine Moody, Janice Wirebaugh; six brothers, Leonard Bailey, Virgil (Bud) Bailey, Karel Bailey, Donald Bailey, Dale Bailey, Robert (Bob) Bailey; three sisters, Dorothy Toman, Gladys Johnson, and Hazel Schultz. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting memorials.
